LA Reid’s role on Sony Music has been revealed. The former Island Def Jam chairman will assume leadership of the Epic Label Group where he will reunite with several of his former artists including Usher and Pink.
Reid is expected to head the ELG venture which will now include Jive Records as well as most of the label’s existing roster. However, reports indicate that acts such as Britney Spears will remain on RCA where she will now share a home with Christina Aguilera.
Former head of Universal Music Group, Doug Morris, officially takes the reigns as Sony Music CEO on July 1st. There is still no word regarding which label Mariah Carey, who is expected to follow Morris and Reid to Sony, will join in 2012.
