Melody Thornton surprised her fans with the iTunes release of a new song entitled ‘Sweet Vendetta’. Following in the footsteps of Cee-Lo, the former Pussycat Doll adopts a retro sound on the track that will reportedly appear on her debut album later this year.

This record definitely suits Thornton’s voice. With her tendency to oversing, the arrangement gave her the room to belt in full voice and just have fun.

It would be interesting to see if Thornton decides to take this approach with her entire album. In fact, it might give her the advantage of providing a fresh sound to the airwaves amidst the sea of Dance/Pop and definitely differentiate her music from that of her former boss bandmate Nicole Scherzinger.
