Did you know that Ella Fitzgerald was the first woman to be honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award?
The First Lady of Song was given the accolade at the 1967 ceremony and was only the fourth artist ever to be given the honor. Fitzgerald was a legendary Jazz singer who was renowned for her superb vocal ability. Artists who cite her as an influence include Chaka Khan, Fantasia and Leona Lewis.
