Did you know that Da Brat was the first solo female Hip-Hop artist to get a platinum album in the US?

The rap icon broke barriers in 1994 with her debut LP, ‘Funkdafied’, when it became the first record by a solo female Hip-Hop act to sell over 1 million copies in the US. Surprisingly, the album only peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 but it did manage to top the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart after its released on June 28th of that year.
