2011 has comprised several surprises but the latest shocking moment came from a pair of unlikely sources. Game and Christina Aguilera have overcome widespread speculation that their careers had ended by scoring the top spots on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, respectively.
Game’s ‘The R.E.D. Album’ has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart by selling 98K copies. This marks the rapper’s third bow at the chart’s peak position following his 2005 release ‘The Documentary’ and 2007′s ‘Doctor’s Advocate’. Moreover, Game managed to bump The Throne, whom he attacked in his diss track ‘Uncle Otis’, to #2 with their ‘Watch The Throne’ Lp selling 94K units.
Aguilera, on the other hand, found her redemption on the Hot 100. The singer’s duet with Maroon 5, ‘Moves Like Jagger’, has climbed to the summit of the lineup, becoming her 5th #1 single. However, this feat has special significance for Aguilera has it is her first chart-topping track in 10 years. Indeed, her last Hot 100 ruler was ‘Lady Marmalade (With Mya, Pink & Lil Kim)’ in 2001.
