Trey Songz is hoping that maybe the fifth time will be the charm as he is already recording album number five. The yet-to-go-platinum singer revealed the details about the record title, including its title, during a recent interview with Glamazons amidst discussions about his Rocawear ‘Evolution’ fragrance and budding acting career.
Read what Songz had to say about the project, aptly entitled ‘Chapter 5′, below:
GJ: What can we expect from you in the future? You’ve done music, fashion, fragrances, what’s next?
TS: Whatever God has planned for me. It’s all about hard work and determination. Every year has been better than my last and every album [has done] better than my last. I’m embarking on new endeavors every chance I get.
I just did ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D’ coming out next year. I’m working on a new album entitled ‘Chapter 5′. Music will always be my first love. I’m going to South Africa and I’m elated about it. I’m taking my mother and family. That trip will be very instrumental in what this next album will be.

It is quite baffling that Songz is ready to put forward a new album when the singles from his last project, ‘Passion, Pain & Pleasure’, has still being pushed by his label on radio. Furthermore, given the rushed and underwhelming material that comprised the ‘Passion’, some hoped that he would have taken a longer break between releases so that he could find new inspiration rater than rehashing more “let me sing about my penis” music.
Songz definitely has potential to be a great artist, as proven by his ‘Trey Day’ album, but his incessant ego stroking and redundant sexual antics are no longer interesting. Hopefully, he uses the upcoming months to focus on his craft and create a classic album because it is quite embarrassing to think that the record that he refers to as “career defining”, ‘Ready’, is simply bad R. Kelly karaoke.
