This week’s Way Back Wednesday is an unforgettable collaboration between Eve and Alicia Keys. ‘Gangsta Lovn” was released in 2002 as the lead single from Eve’s ‘Eve-Olution’ LP and become her 2nd most successful song to date, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #6 on the Official UK Singles Chart.

There is no question that this record is one of Eve’s best works. Without relying on sex like other female rappers, she delivered her rhymes like a pro while Keys gave a subtle performance similar to a young Mary J. Blige without sounding like a cheap imitation.

As Eve continues to delay her return to music, it is certain that her voice is sorely missed in the Hip-Hop scene. Hopefully, she will find inspiration once again and release her new album sooner rather than later.
