Ashanti visited ‘The Today Show’ this morning to promote her new song, ‘Never Too Far Away’, from the ‘Dream House’ horror film soundtrack and made a surprising announcement in the process. Amidst discussions about the project, the singer/songwriter revealed the title of her long-awaited comeback single!

Ashanti stated that the name of the highly anticipated track is ‘No Good’ and that it will be released “very soon”. Although she did not reveal any further details about the record or her album, she did share her excitement about having the song hit the airwaves.

Honestly, it would be great if Ashanti’s ‘No Good’ was a mid-tempo club-banger similar to Mary J. Blige’s ‘The One (Ft. Drake)’or even her own ‘Only U’. She is a capable songwriter who could craft a respectable ballad but she needs to have a major impact on the charts by releasing a song that nobody would expect her to put forward.

I am quite eager to hear what Ashanti has to offer with this new era. As R&B music is slowly regaining ground on the Billboard Hot 100, it would be wonderful for her to have a resurgence in popularity along with it.
