Yesterday we asked you to vote for the new album that will dominate the fourth quarter of 2011. Well, that poll has proven to be quite timely as it has just been announced that Rihanna will be releasing her new album in November and on the same day as Mary J. Blige.
Rihanna will debut the record on November 21st. The project is preceded by the lead single ‘We Found Love (Ft. Calvin Harris)’, which will impact radio on October 11th. Blige is also scheduled to release her ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act I)’ on November 21st and it will include the rising R&B hit, ’25/8′.

This will be a very interesting chart matchup. Rihanna is known for having consistent sales and monster hit singles but she has yet to score a #1 album and her largest first week figures came from ‘Loud’ which debuted with 207K in the US.
Blige, on the other hand, has a reputation for accumulating high debut sales. In fact, even her lowest-selling LP, ‘Stronger with Each Tear’, managed to enter the Billboard 200 with 332K in its first week.
However, the key point of this news is that Rihanna and Blige are among the leading artists in their genres – Pop and R&B, respectively. Hence, we are finally going to see which field is truly dominant on the album charts!
