Fergie was given the honor of performing the US nation anthem at the Miami Dolphins vs New England Patriots game last evening. However, the prestigious moment went awry from the moment the Black Eyed Peas front woman opened her mouth where she transformed the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ into a disaster.

There is no questioning Ferie’s talent but what has been proven on multiple occasions is that her voice is far more enjoyable when she doesn’t try to sing with power. She has a horrible tendency to sound forced and is an even more extreme version of Christina Aguilera.

Indeed, Fergie simply followed the model of every other singer who have attempted this song – belt, holler and embellish every syllable with a string of runs and high notes. Unfortunately, those tricks only work when the artist has the skill and vocal ability to handle it.
