Adele has set a new standard for success as her ’21′ album nabbed the top spot on the United World Chart for an awe-inspiring 21st week. The record sold yet another 234K copies and surged ahead of all contenders, including The Throne’s ‘Watch The Throne’ and Game ‘The R.E.D. Album’.
’21′ exhibited a 4% swell in sales and landed at #1 with a new total of 9.27 million units sold. The LP is expected to hit the 10 million mark within the next month thus becoming the fastest selling album since Usher’s ‘Confessions’, which accomplished that figure in 34 weeks in 2004.
The Throne’s ‘Watch The Throne’, on the other hand, remained at #2 with 148K copies sold, just one spot above Game’s US chart-topping ‘The R.E.D. Album’, which entered the World Chart this week with 130K. Additionally, Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ sold 86K at #5 and Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ moved 76K at #7.
