Brandy experienced several career setbacks in the last five years but now that she has finally secured a new record deal, the singer seems set for her long awaited comeback. However, despite exciting her fans with claims that she will be reinventing herself on her new album, many remain perplexed as to how will achieve that feat.
Producer Rico Love has already indicated that the record will entail “classic R&B” music and that he will be pushing Brandy to the limits of her vocal ability. Yet, Brandy has always experimented with her boundaries of her unique voice as well as both R&B and Hip-Hop so it is quite difficult to discern exactly what he meant in relation to her claims that she intends to try something new.
In fact, Brandy’s only possible option would be to record an album that features mainly live instrumentation similar to ‘A Capella (Something’s Missing)’ or even an orchestra. On the other hand, with her comeback already expected to be an uphill struggle, that would definitely be a major risk, especially since Dance/Pop is dominating the airwaves.
Hence, we want to know what you think Brandy could do to reinvent herself. Also, do you think she should simply follow the current trends of R&B/Pop – for instance, songs like Kelly Rowland’s ‘Lay It On Me’ - until she reestablishes her career or should she weather the risk of making a ‘live’ album?
