Katy Perry hit the stage at ‘Rock in Rio’ in Brazil just moments ago. The singer/songwriter thrilled the crowd with several of her most popular songs, including 4 of her record-breaking 5 #1 singles – ‘California Gurls’, ‘E.T.’, ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’ and ‘Firework’.
Watch Perry in action below:
Regardless of people’s differing opinions about Perry’s material, it is almost unanimously agreed that she is a weak live performer. In fact, she is the definition of a studio artist.
Perry’s voice is often shaky, flat and breathy. Furthermore, instead of exciting the crowd with vocal gymnastics, she often has to verbally hype her fans by yelling for their attention.
Nonetheless, Perry is tolerable on radio. Unlike her close friend Rihanna, who is universally deplorable, Perry still sounds pleasant on record. Hence, we have the option of buying her songs on iTunes for 99 cents and avoiding her concerts altogether.
