Lil Wayne Storms Billboard Charts With ‘Tha Carter IV’

Written by Trent | Filed under Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne has once again raised the bar for his peers as his ‘Tha Carter IV’ LP has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with sales exceeding 900K. Although the record failed to match the 1.01 million sales of his ‘Tha Carter III’, Wayne did manage to accomplish another impressive feat.

With over 964K copies sold, ‘Tha Carter IV’ has claimed the second largest debut of 2011 behind Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’, which entered with 1.1 million units. The album also sold more than double the first week figures of The Throne’s ‘Watch The Throne’, which entered the tally at #1 in August with 436K.

In addition, Wayne has achieved the largest single week sales of any LP by a male solo artist since 2008.  In fact, the only album by a male act to surpass the first week numbers Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’ was his own ‘Tha Carter III’. Moreover, ‘Tha Carter IV’ has set a new record for the biggest single week sales of any album on iTunes by selling sold over 345K downloads after just 7 days of availability.

How many copies did Birdman buy though? honestly i can’t believe an album full of shit was able to sell this many copies! The only good songs were John, Mirror, and President Carter.

It’s funny how everyone thought he would sell over a million copies but instead he sold a little less…Oh well! and please believe that YMCMB bought most of the copies.

But all y’all believe Gaga earned that million her first week.
People forget Wayne had 4 songs out and 2 of those that hit the top 5. The throne had one minor hit Beyonce still looking for a hit from that album etc. The numbers make sense to me.

@Girrrl People also forget that Wayne had TWO sold out tours this year without even releasing any new music. I guess people will say Birdman bought all of those tickets and gave them to homeless people to sit in the arena every night. People just love to reach and hate on people that are successful.

Soooo yall hatin asses really stickin to that ‘Birdman bought (x) copies’ shit, huh?
Birdman being the business man he is, do you REALLY believe that man would make the executive decision to buy upwards of 9mil dollars worth of albums, and he has a whole damn label to support?
What sense does that make? What would that profit him? Bragging rights? He knows bragging rights dont pay the bills and yall ole reaching ass mufuckas should too.
He had 2 sold out tours and hit singles. NOW he has ANOTHER #1 album. Congratulate that man and keep it movin.
