Motherhood has truly altered Mariah Carey’s perspective. The diva, whose ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ LP was plagued by the banal productions of The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, has issued an open call for new producers and songwriters to help her record her new album.
Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon, previously confirmed that she has been inspired by the birth of her children and that she will be reverting to the artistic roots of her first two albums – ‘Mariah Carey’ and ‘Emotions’ – as she intends to revive both her illustrious voice and classic R&B music. The first single from the record is expected to be released by the end of 2011.

This is the type of initiative that Carey needs to be exhibiting! With both her vocal and commercial viability in question, she needs to revamp her entire brand by returning to the raw creativity of her younger years that inspired a generation.
Moreover, Carey will have gargantuan competition on the charts next year from Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys and probably even Adele, who is also planning another album, so she will have to deliver the best material possible to nab the top spot on the charts. Of course, Carey is own biggest competition so if she really wants to silence the critics who constantly plead for a return to her 1990s sound then this will have to be the best album of her career.
I’m so emotional right now. Somebody please hold me!
