Jason Derulo toned down his signature auto-tune antics for this new track entitled ‘Make It Up As We Go’. The song serves as the latest promotional single from his ‘Future History’ album, which hits stores on September 27th.
Listen to ‘Make It Up As We Go’ below:
This is actually a good song! Derulo utilised live instrumentation and channeled the crossover R&B/Pop sound of Usher to create what is probably his best work to date.
It is perplexing that Derulo has not explored this type of music before as it would undoubtedly afford him greater artistic credibility and even help him to transcend from being a singles artist to a stronger album seller. However, given his drive to satisfy the club market, Derulo is probably crafting mindless Dance tracks to cater to the demands of that audience and that’s a damn shame.
