Adele has already broken several records with ’21′ but now she has matched a feat set by one of music’s most renowned divas. The LP has spent more weeks in the top 5 of the Billboard 200 than any album since Whitney Houston’s ‘The Bodyguard’.
’21′ notched the #2 spot on the chart after selling 119K copies in the last 7 days and earned its 30th week in the top 5. It is the only record to accomplish that span since ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack in 1993. To date, ’21′ has sold over 3.54 million copies in the US and remains the bestselling album of 2011.
Over on the Hot 100, Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’ maintained its lead for a 3rd week. However, the real champion on the lineup was Tony Bennett whose ‘Body & Soul’ duet with Amy Winehouse entered the Hot 100 at #88, making the 85-year old the eldest living person to score a hit in the chart’s history.
