After debuting on the US Billboard 200 at #1 with his ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’ album, J. Cole has infiltrated the top 5 of the United World Album Chart. Although the record was unable to topple Adele’s omnipresent ’21′ LP, it was still crowned as the week’s 2nd-highest debut.
‘Cole World’ sold an impressive 233K copies worldwide this week, compared to the 218K units sold in the US, and debuted at #3. Notably, Blink-182′s ‘Neighborhoods’, which entered the Billboard 200 below ‘Cole World’, managed to outpace the Hip-Hop release on the global scale after selling 235K copies .
However, despite those impressive figures, Adele’s ’21′ remained at #1 on the United World Album Chart with sales exceeding 261K copies – less than a 1K unit drop from last week. Remarkably, the record, which has been certified 4x platinum in the US, has now sold over 10.67 million copies globally after booking the #1 spot for 24 weeks.
The United World Track Chart also exhibited major shifts this week. Following its record-breaking climb on the US Billboard Hot 100, Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ has vaulted to #4 in its 2nd week on the world tally with 186K copies sold. Conversely, the Barbados native’s previous single, ‘Cheers (Drink To That)’, depicted an expected sales dip by falling from #9 to #14 with 145K units sold.
