It looks like Jessie J’s stint as a special guest on ‘The X Factor (UK)’ last week has inspired her to take the next step toward helping the next generation of artists. The songbird, who released her ‘Who You Are’ video last Friday, has officially joined the panel of coaches for the upcoming UK incarnation of ‘The Voice’.
Although Jessie acknowledges that she is still quite young and widely regarded as a relatively new artist, she is quite eager to share her experiences with young performers who are searching for their own voices. Read what she had to say about the venture below:
”It’s all about the voice. I love the idea of being a coach and a mentor and not a judge. I wanted to be involved. They approached me and I was well up for it.”
In the show, contestants will get through on the strength of their voices rather than how they look, with “blind” auditions. The singer said that was what attracted her to the show.
“One of the reasons that I love it is because it is a coach,” she said. ”It’s not telling someone whether they’re good or not. It’s helping them find their voice and who they are and making it something that they could give to the world.”
Jessie J insists she has the credentials to take part in the show, despite releasing her debut album earlier this year.
“For me, there’s that feeling of, ‘Have I done enough to coach someone?’ But I’ve learned a lot. I’m 23 and I meet a lot of young people, singers and songwriters that want to blossom and they ask for my advice and my opinion because I’ve experienced it. By the time the programme starts it’s going to be another six months time and there’ll be a lot more that has happened.”

Jessie J has definitely made an excellent decision by joining this show. Regardless of the fact that she is a tremendously talented vocalist, her residency on the series will help her to expand her audience and solidify her fanbase.
Indeed, Jessie J’s ‘Who You Are’ album has been certified double platinum in the UK but many people still don’t know her by name. Furthermore, thanks to the power of the internet, those persons from other countries who watch the show online will develop a sense of her personality and her artistry when she performs throughout the series.
The second season of US version of ‘The Voice’ is scheduled to premiere on February 5th at 10pm ET via NBC.
