The record was ranked as the 2nd best-selling album of 1996 in the US and the 18th most successful release during the period of 1990 to 1999. Worldwide, ‘Daydream’ has sold over 25 million copies and is Carey’s 2nd highest-selling album after ‘Music Box’, which sold over 32 million units.
‘Daydream’ also spawned 3 consecutive #1 singles, including the eventual Billboard Song of the Decade, ‘One Sweet Day’, which held the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 16 consecutive weeks. Additionally, the project was nominated for 6 Grammy Awards at the 1996 ceremony but Carey won none.
