Almost three months after Beyonce shot the video for her latest Urban single, ‘Party’, the official remix of the track has only just been released. Interestingly, this new version of the song, which features J. Cole in place of Andre 3000, has been used for the accompanying visual instead of the original composition.
The ‘Party’ video is set to debut on October 25th via BET’s ’106 & Park’. Beyonce, who was in the early stages of her pregnancy during filming, was joined on the set by her sister Solange as well as Kelly Rowland.
Listen to the ‘Party’ remix below:
J. Cole’s contribution to this song was respectable but unfortunately not as impressive as Andre 3000′s slick verse. It is quite baffling that Beyonce completely nixed the latter from the song, especially considering the fact that it was his inclusion on the record that helped it to quickly gain momentum on Urban radio.
Perhaps, Beyonce’s team, in association with Roc Nation, was eager to give J. Cole a placement on the track so that he could further build his fanbase. Also, as an added benefit, an alternative version of the record would also help to boost its impact on iTunes.
Still, a completely revamped version of ‘Party’ would have been even better than a modern cut and paste remix. Since Beyonce removed the key quality of the record’s appeal – Andre 3000 – then a full remake would have helped her to avoid any negative comparisons.
