Mary J. Blige was one of the first major artists to collaborate Drake in 2009 when she enlisted him for ‘The One’ and now she has worked with him again on her new single, ‘Mr. Wrong’. The track is the second release from her upcoming ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act 1)’ following ’25/8′.
In addition to this new single, Blige booked a slot to perform at the 2011 American Music Awards. The show will air live on November 20th at 8pm ET on ABC - one day before the release of ‘My Life II’. Moreover, Blige is readying a video for ’25/8′ that will debut in the coming weeks.
Listen to ‘Mr. Wrong’, which was crafted by Rico Love in tandem with Jim Jonsin, below:
After listening to Drake’s intro on this track, I was a bit fearful that he would have stolen the spotlight from Blige but in her true diva form, the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul recaptured the focus from her very first note! This is an excellent choice for a second single and should fair well in the fall season.
Indeed,’Mr. Wrong’ bears a minor similarity to Kelly Rowland’s ‘Motivation’, which was also made by Rico Love, and that was a major contender on Urban radio. Hence, Blige may have just released her own winning single.
