Mary J. Blige kept the momentum of her promotional campaign going into the evening with the release of yet another new song! ‘Why’ features Rick Ross and will appear on the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul’s upcoming ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act 1)’ LP, which hits stores on November 21st.
Blige previously debuted the official second single from ‘My Life II’ this evening, entitled ‘Mr. Wrong (Ft. Drake)’. Other acts who have contributed to the album include Beyonce, Lil Wayne and Diddy.
Listen to ‘Why’ below:
Many people were perplexed regarding how Blige would be able to channel the 1990s R&B sound of her original ‘My Life’ album but this record made her intentions clear. The thumping beats and the colourful melody of this record were amalgamated wonderfully with Blige’s vocals and Ross strangely catchy grunting for a classic yet modern production.
Truly, ‘Why’ should have been the lead single from ‘My Life II’ instead of ’25/8′. Although the latter is enjoyable live, it lacks unmistakable radio appeal of ‘Why’. Why wasn’t ‘Why’ the lead single?
