Whitney Houston To Star In ‘Sparkle’ Remake
Whitney Houston’s career has been given a crucial lifeline as it has just been announced that she has joined the cast ‘Sparkle’. The fallen diva, who has been battling drug addiction for years, will star alongside Jordin Sparks and Cee Lo Green in the remake of the 1976 feature film.
With the exception of Prince Azim’s July birthday party in UK, Houston has made few major public appearances during the last few months because of her latest stint in rehab. However, her daughter, Bobbi Kristina, temporarily nabbed the spotlight in September with her cover of Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’.

Certainly, this is an excellent opportunity for Houston to rebuild her presence in Hollywood and away from the music industry. Given the tattered nature of her voice and her almost unrecognisable leathery tone, it is difficult to fathom her having yet another comeback on the charts without the assistance of the massive source of propaganda that was her interview on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’.
In fact, her lack of radio hits in 2009 was a clear indication that many of the people who bought her ‘I Look To You’ album were loyal fans and those Adult Contemporary consumers who were enthralled by the glamour created by her marketing team that The Voice had truly returned. Indeed, the casual listeners of the contemporary audience have shown little interest in her beyond her latest tabloid-worthy antics.
Hence, Houston’s detour into acting will allow her to capitalise on another of her strengths. Hopefully, she will avoid drugs and won’t ruin this aspect of her career like she did her voice.

What a nasty writeup. Whitney has not been seen because she is not a media whore. She seldom is seen by paps unless she is promoting something. That has been her modus operandi for years now.
Lifeline: her last album was #1 in 8 countries including the US, canada, germany, and the like and #3 in the uk. It’s sold 2.5mil copies. It had 2 #1 hits on the Urban/ac charts and a #1 on the dance charts. Last time I checked urban ac buyers buy actual cds, ask maxwell, sade, kem, jill scott, kirk franklin and the like. Mimi should wish she had those stats for her last cds.
Whitney’s ‘ultimate collection greatest hits’ cd is sitting at #28 on the UK Itunes charts for the last week. ‘Sparkle’ has been in developement by her company for years and she’s also the executive producer so it’s not like this came out of the blue.
She’s also gonna be in ‘getting to happy’ so when that’s annouced don’t pretend like that was a ‘lifeline’ either.
Again, the Oprah interview was the 3rd week after release when i look to you had already sold 400k copies, almost as much as MOIR. The oprah interview she then sold 158k but she was already gold.

Urban ac are loyal supporters and urban ac radio supported 4 songs , i look to you, strength, million dollar bill and worth it. they also bought the cd. Mariah should have been so lucky to have their support so that moia would have sold more than 520k copies. nothing worse than a bitter stan of a rival. ugly!
I don’t see why people can’t be Whitney Houston fans and Mariah Carey fans but if we want to be real about voices, Whitney’s is THE BEST & this shaded write up was disrespectful to The Voice. Yes, her voice is tarnished as well as her image, somewhat, but numbers don’t lie. I Look To You was a testament to Whitney’s loyal fans and while you may say the average listener wasn’t impressed, we can say the same for good ol’ Mimi for the same shade that you give Rihanna and Beyonce: Pop music, no depth, and no vocal showmanship. Sparkle will be a highlight for Whitney but its no shocker, and certainly not a ‘lifeline’

I’m about the movie. I’m upset about the whole lineup. Casting is horrible. Straight to dvd is a big possibility or bootlegged heavy.
This movie won’t go straight to DVD, that’s Mariah’s acting that’s done that. /all of Whitney’s movies has been hits and the soundtracks has done well. /every moive she produced that she didn’t act in were hits. Even Cinderella was massive.
This movie will be released next year and it will recoup it’s budget and then some. Whitney knows what she’s doing and she’s been developing this movie for years. Aaliyah was suppose to star but unfortunately she died.

Mariah, his fav last studio cd sold 520k in the us and less than 850WW, her promo tour in europe had to be stopped because the cd wasn’t selling even after she went on UK/Italy X Factor. MOIR was #3 on Billboard selling 165k. Whitney’s ‘i look to you’ sold 301k and was #1. Is he saying Mariah’s career needs a lifeline?
