Bruno Mars wasn’t the only major Pop star to perform on ‘The X Factor (US)’ last evening. The original ‘American Idol’, Kelly Clarkson, also rocked the crowd of the talent show by performing ‘What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)’ from her latest studio album, ‘Stronger’.
Ironically, judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul were responsible for discovering Clarkson on ‘Idol’ in 2002. She has since emerged as the most successful act from show and her ‘Stronger’ album has thus far sold 272K copies in the US since being released on October 24th.
Watch Clarkson’s performance below:
Although that was far from Clarkson’s best performance, especially when compared to her showing at the 2011 American Music Awards, she still did a good job with the song. It’ unfortunate that Clarkson’s issues with her label stalled her success because is truly the most talented vocalist of the ‘Idol’ franchise.
Admittedly, I have been waiting for Clarkson to make a Pop/Soul album. After watching her perform covers of Aretha Franklin’s ‘A Natural Woman’ and Mariah Carey’s ‘Love Takes Time’, it’s obvious that there is an entire dimension of her artistry that she has yet to explore.
Finally, a Kelly Clarkson post!
Hopefully there will be more in the near future.
P.s. I freakin love this song!
She’s fantastic! …and she should be the one making all these #1s instead of all the lessors out there. Girl can sang!
