Less than 3 months since the album exploded onto the top spot of the Billboard 200, Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’ has accomplished an inevitable yet still impressive feat. Specifically, the record has just been certified double platinum.

‘Tha Cater IV’ has sold over 1.693 million copies in the US since being released in the US on August 29th. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales exceeding 964K copies and set the bar for all other Hip-Hop projects of 2011 by clocking the highest entry week sales of any Rap album this year.

Furthermore, ‘Tha Carter IV’ is currently ranked as 2011′s third biggest-selling album. Of course, Adele’s ’21′ is the year’s top-seller with 4.533 million copies sold and Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ is in second place with 1.902 million units in sales.
