MC is an acronym for Merry Christmas but the letters are also the initials of Mariah Carey. The forever-festive diva has announced that she will be releasing a deluxe edition of her ‘Merry Christmas II You’ album next year.
However, Carey isn’t the only artist with new Holiday material in the works. In fact, one of her favourite artists will be debuting his first Christmas collection in 2012 as well – John Legend.
Carey and Legend recently collaborated on a remix of her probable future classic ‘When Christmas Comes’. The former noted that the tune will appear on both of their Christmas records next year.

Carey’s ‘Merry Christmas II You’ was a grossly underrated album and featured some of the best work of her career. In fact, it was arguably better than her first ‘Merry Christmas’ album so a deluxe edition with the proper promotion – handled by her new management team – would be ideal.
Of course, the idea of Legend releasing his own Christmas album is equally exciting. He brand of classic R&B would be perfect on a Holiday record and it would be wonderful if he could encourage Alicia Keys to join the project!
