Monica recently announced that her ‘New Life’ album had been delayed because of her decision to restructure the record with the guidance of RCA Records. However, the R&B singer has kept her word about keeping the project in motion by revealing its official cover and release date.
‘New Life’ will now arrive in stores on February 21st 2012. Although the record will include the singles ‘Anything (To Find You) (Ft. Rick Ross)’ and ‘Until It’s Gone’, an updated list of producers who shall be contributing to the LP has yet to be made available.

This development is very interesting because not only has Monica now entered the already packed race for chart dominance in 2012, but she will also be in direct competition with her former commercial rival, Brandy. In fact, both women are slated to debut their projects in early 2012 and this will be the first occasion in which they will both have new releases available within the same time frame since the summer of 1998 when their notorious competition was at its peak.
Regardless of these points, Monica’s biggest competition is herself. Following the moderate success of ‘Still Standing’, she has to prove to her label that she is still a viable act. Indeed, RCA Records has been vastly reorganised within the last few months and their is no doubt that the new executives would be eager to eliminate any artist who underperforms.
