Did you know that Aretha Franklin is Whitney Houston’s godmother?
Aretha had been close friends with Whitney’s mother – Gospel singer Cissy Houston – for many years and served as Whitney godmother as well as mentor. Whitney is also the cousin of Soul singers Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick.
Of course, Franklin and Whitney collaborated on the tune ‘It Isn’t, It Wasn’t, It Ain’t Never Gonna Be’ in 1989. Listen to the song, which peaked at #41 on the Billboard Hot 100, below:

i always got bitchy/jealous vibes from aretha when it came to whitney. i never understood the comments she said about whitney in her autobiography.
i think it was all love until Whitney became “the voice” and regarded by many as the greatest singer, a title that some would have given Aretha before
that’s crazy, especially since aretha has known whitney since she was a baby.
THIS SONG GOES INNNNNNN
I also got jealous vibes from Aretha re whitney. Her producer narada michael walden spoke about that. BTW, did you know that it’s whitney’s mom, cissy who is singing those amazing high soprano notes in Aretha’s ‘ain’t no way’ song.
cissy got pipes for days.
