Drake posed as Hip-Hop’s golden son on the cover of his ‘Take Care’ album and the projected sales of the record will justify his artistic statement. Indeed, the LP is on track to sell well over 600K copies in the US by the end of its first week in stores.
‘Take Care’ is predicted to sell 625K-725K copies in its first week and enter the Billboard 200 at #1. Those figures will rank the album as having the third highest debut sales of 2011 behind Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ and Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’, which sold 1.108 million and 964k units, respectively.
Several artists contributed to ‘Take Care’ including The Weeknd, Stevie Wonder and Lil Wayne. Moreover, Rihanna appeared on the record’s title track.
Drake’s previous album, ‘Thank Me Later’, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in June 2010 with sales exceeding 447K units. To date, the LP has sold 1.48 million copies in the US.
