Khan was born with the name Yvette Marie Stevens on March 23rd 1953. However, she adopted the name Chaka Adunne Aduffe Hodarhi Karifi when she joined the Black Panther Party movement in 1967 and when she married Hassan Khan in 1970, she attained the name Chaka Khan.
