New Song: Ashanti – ‘The Woman You Love (Ft. Busta Rhymes)’

Ashanti promised that she would release the lead single from her next studio album later this year and she has kept her word. ‘The Woman You Love’ featured Busta Rhymes – the man who helped Chris Brown to forge a major comeback with one of the biggest-selling singles of 2011, ‘Look At Me Now’.

‘The Woman You Love’ is definitely a good song but the thinness of Ashanti’s voice weakened its impact. In fact, it would have sounded a lot better if it was performed by Mary J. Blige as a solid addition to her ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act 1)’ album.

Still, with R&B music currently inching back to the forefront of the industry, Ashanti’s presence on the music scene is quite welcome. As both a singer and a songwriter, she has the ability to help give the movement added momentum.

  Trent, you took the words out of my mouth. Her vocals didnt match. Tiffany Evans could have done a better job with this. The beat is crazy and busta is really good. The only thing lacking is a rich vocal.
