Melanie Amaro has been riding a wave of popularity since she won the first season of ‘The X Factor (US)’ but she has set her sights on an even bigger prize. During an interview on BET’s ’106 & Park’, the budding diva discussed her life as well as her main musical ambition – to work with Mariah Carey.
Amaro didn’t reveal too many details regarding her debut album but she noted that Carey and songwriter Ne-Yo were at the top of her list of potential collaborators. Of course, Amaro made sure to treat the ’106 & Park’ audience to short performance of Beyonce’s ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ and proved why she deserved the ‘X Factor (USA)’ crown.
Watch Amaro in action below:
A duet between Carey and Amaro is unlikely at this point – the only female with whom the latter has sung a duet was Whitney Houston – but it is a very interesting prospect. In addition to giving the Amaro an additional boost for her debut effort, it would be exciting to hear a pair of talented vocalists challenge each other on the same track.
Interestingly, Carey has been working on a charity single, entitled ‘Save the Day’, for over a year that will feature a range of artists. Perhaps, that would be the best opportunity for Amaro to work with her “idol” and tap into an even broader audience.

Yeah, good luck with that. If there’s any woman Mariah will collabo with, it’s prob MJB
the save the day single would be great for her because i highly doubt she’ll get a duet with Mariah unless
HAHAHAHA….. chile boo…ain’t gonna happen… Whitney Houston, Trey Lorenz, Babyface and Dru Hill (Sisqo) are the only vocalists she’s done real collabs. Hip Hop artists have better chances. Bone Thugs ,Jay Z and Nicki have been granted. Melanie’s voice ain’t strong enough—TRY BEYONCE
Get it Melanie! I’m rooting for her to do well!
Although the ink just dried on her contract, I really hope that she’s doing some planning and establishing the ground work for her debut. She needs to release an original song to create/maintain anticipation for her release. I wish her much success but the ball needs to start rolling in order to get it.
She can sing and I’m glad she won but its about the music. I don’t need Mariah + Whitney Jr 794.3
it’s funny how her accent keeps changing. lol. but who knows? Mariah tweeted her personally, encouraging her. so ya never know. dreams do come true.
I think Mariah should right and produce a track for her at some point!
Im excited for her album when it drops
What do you mean her voice is not strong enough for a duet with Mariah? Mariah’s voice is NOT strong enough. Her voice has not been strong since a decade ago, which is quite natural I guess.
