Did you know that in addition to his seven Grammy Awards, Prince has won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award?
Prince earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score in 1985 for his classic tune ‘Purple Rain’, which was the title track of his 1984 hit film. He was also nominated for the Best Original song Golden Globe in 1985 for ‘When Doves Cry’ but he lost the title to his idol Stevie Wonder’s ‘I Just Called To Say I Love You’.
However, Prince eventually won the Golden Globe in 2007 for ‘Song of the Heart’ from the animated film ‘Happy Feet’. Notably, his ‘Purple Rain’ album was given Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2011; his second LP to be presented with that honor following ’1999′ in 2008.
