Marcus Collins’ debut single, a cover of The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’, will officially be released in the UK on March 4th but he has issued the audio to VEVO to excite his fans for the tune’s digital premiere. Featuring blaring horns instead of just the recurring guitar riffs of the original, ‘Seven Nation Army’ introduces the former ‘The X Factor (UK)’ act as his own act.
‘Seven Nation Army’ is the first official offering from Collins’ debut album. The LP will arrive in UK stores on March 12th.
Listen to ‘Seven Nation Army’ below:
The best facet of ‘Seven Nation Army’ is the production. The horn section definitely added a intriguing dimension to the Rock original and helped Collins to sound more natural while singing the song. However, may not be a wise choice for a lead single.
A cover is a great way to capture a readymade fanbase but Collins is certainly not a representative of The White Stripes crowd, who might be be very happy about his take on ‘Seven Nation army’. Additionally, he was clearly trying to recreate the vocals of the original song but he voice was simply too shaky.
Still, the buzz created from the ‘X Factor (UK)’ machine should give ‘Seven Nation Army’ the push to enter the top 10 of the Official UK Singles Chart. I just hope that he has a stronger second single planned.
