The-Dream revealed the artwork to his new single, ‘ROC’, earlier this evening and now the tune has been released. The record is the first offering from his ‘The Love, IV: Diary of a Madman’, which will hit stores later this year, but don’t expect to hear a fresh sound from the hit-maker. Rather, he simply mixed some of his previous tunes into one.
Confused by the statement? Listen to The-Dream’s ‘ROC’ below to understand what it means:
Take ‘Put it Down’ and ‘Mr. Yeah’ from The-Dream’s ‘Love vs. Money’ album as well as ‘Ribbon’ from Mariah Carey’s ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’, mix them together with some new lyrics and you’ll get ‘ROC’. That is the key problem with The-Dream – as brilliant as he was on his first two albums, he has become blatantly redundant.
Why can’t The-Dream take the reported $15 million that he made from Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ and use it to purchase some new production equipment? His habit of recycling past material has become quite exhausting to tolerate and if ‘The Love, IV’ includes songs similar to ‘ROC’ then he will not get my money.
