If you have been observing the Billboard charts during the last year then might have concluded that Adele has never truly left the summits of the listings; she simply took breaks. As such, it was completely unsurprising when the singer topped the Billboard Hot 100 this week and effectively ousted Rihanna.
Adele’s ‘Set Fire to the Rain’ has become Adele’s 3rd consecutive #1 single on the Hot 100 from from her ’21′ album. Following the success of ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and ‘Someone like You’, which held the peak position for 7 and 5 weeks, respectively, ‘Set Fire’ has made Adele the 1st artist in US history to score 3 chart-toppers from a single album while concurrently controlling the #1 slot of the Billboard 200.
Yes, ’21′ has logged its 17th nonconsecutive week at #1 on the Billboard 200. The album has become the first record since Whitney Houston’s ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack in 1993 to achieve that feat. ’21′ has sold over 6.15 million copies in the US since its debut on February 22nd 2011.
