    Celine Dion Slams Whitney Houston

Written by TriniTrent | Filed under Celine Dion,Whitney Houston

As the industry continues to mourn the death of Whitney Houston, one artist has stepped forward to voice the obvious truth that everybody else has been avoiding. Speaking during an interview with ‘Good Morning America’ this morning, Celine Dion addressed the passing of her fellow diva but instead of simply gushing about the latter’s accomplishments, she slammed Houston for her reckless behaviour.

Dion stated that Houston inexplicably became involved in drugs and “show business”, and allowed herself to be consumed by that lifestyle. Additionally, she exclaimed that Houston’s behaviour was something that she simply could not understand.

Watch Dion’s interview on ‘GMA’ below:

You all know what i think about Houston’s drug abuse and her disregard of her talent. Hence, I shall remain silent on this matter but I am thankful that another artist on her level finally spoke about her behaviour. If only this was said during Houston’s lifetime.

    Thoughts?

“Watch what you say…” – Whitney Houston

    • WonderLand19

Why would people want to be “Famous” when it does this to you? I’ll rather be respected in my field like Celion then “Famous” like Whitney. The industry is a terrible world.

    • Ariana

Whoa! I never saw that coming!! At least not from Celine Dion whom always seemed to me as a very private person.
She didn’t say any lies however I’m not sure if the timing is right; is easy to judge when the person is dead but if you have really cared about her then you should have talked to Whitney when she was still alive.

At this point, everything that is said or done -on that particular matter- is irrelevant.

    • olivia

ugh she could have kept that to herself how she know whitney family was not watching this but whatever

    • DOMOdotSCORE

I loved that Celine was honest about how she feels.

    • Sunshine

Yeah we all know Whitney didn’t live a healthy life But I don’t think it’s necessary to bring up especially when she just passed. We should remember how talented she was and her beautiful voice and her music. We have lost alot of legends do to substance abuse and suicides etc and I think it would be better to remember their God given talents. People already know what drugs, alcohol, etc does to you So there’s no reason to make an example out of Whitney and keep bringing up her mistakes like its bigger than all her accomplishments. She tried to get better and unfortunately she didn’t win the battle.
      RIP

    • Jo da Houma Hoe

Fuck Celine Dion…bitch if she was that bad, instead of bash her while she is dead, you should have reached out to her when she was alive…

I think it is sad how all her accomplishments are being over shadowed by her mistakes

CELINE DION CAN EAT A DICK SANDWITCH AND STFU

    • Luxurylatte

It don’t matter whether Whitney fam was watching or not, facts are facts and its the truth. Whitney was a long time abuser and many in her circle, especially her last few days of skipping around with Ray-J, partying in the clubs drunk, being seen bleeding with scratches and all afterward, and nobody pulled her coattails? Everybody wants to tribute now but when she was alive these same singing heifas I bet stopped returning her calls and made jokes at her expense. Everyone knew this wouldn’t end well. I hope her family gets it together and keeps their foot in Bobbi Kristina beehind, cause you know she’s already well on her way…

    • Pat

Really, Celine? Instead of sending love and light to her family, you decide to ramble on about her drug use? It’s obviously not a secret that Whitney had her addictions so that was uncalled for. Celine shouldn’t be so quick to judge someone like that. Addiction is a serious problem, and unless you have been through it its very easy for to make statements like that about what Whitney went though.

    • larry

Yessss at Ms Dion telling the truth and practising her message! She needs to teach more people about this side! Its sorrowful! Maybe not at the right time but it has to be said, sadly not while she was alive! :(

    • http://www.twitter.com/aspire91inspire Adrian

Hindsight 20/20. If Celine really cared so much she should have intervened during Whitney’s lifetime. No one can speak on addiction if they’ve never been there before, so I’m not too impressed by Celine highlighing someone’s flaws. There is a certain period of time when you just don’t say things like this about those who have passed away and this still TOO SOON. Celine should be ashamed of herself and she’s lucky she wasn’t heckled by the audience for such remarks at a time like this.

    • http://www.twitter.com/aspire91inspire Adrian

Okay and that’s the last time I base my judgement of something of the MISLEADING AND TWISTED title and even the wording of the article. Celine didn’t slam anybody…she just expressed her fear for the demons that seem to consume all the talent of the greats. Wish I could delete my previous comment. Trent here’s a bench \______________/
LAY ALL THE WAY DOWN MY FRIEND. You’re wrong for this trickery.

    • Juewelz03

I don’t think this title is correct she doesn’t slam Whitney she is slamming the consequences of celebrity life

    • DRB

    • lmfaooooo!

elton john lol!!!!!!!! but i must agree with celine dion.

    • Britt Aye

Can we wait until the coroner report is released? Have we not learned anything from Amy Winehouse death? Stop the speculation and celebrate her life the right way.

The coroner.told Don Lemon that he (the coroner) has more prescription drugs in his house than what was found in that hotel room. I’m really disappointed in the way people are talking about her. Yes we all know she had her issues but no one knows EXACTLY how she died. Trent I don’t know why you’re commending someone for speculating. Whitney has family in mourning…if it was your Fav you wouldn’t be commending her. Extremely disappointed in all of this. From your tweets talking about “she didn’t write any of her songs” during the BET special….was that necessary? So what they forgot to mention Greatest love of all is a cover…its not about that, it was about celebrating her life. I’m one of your biggest supporters and u know this. I’m done

    • juan lus

Celine is only saying the truth why is this so hard to understand! Now everyone is WH fan! Come on People!

    • med school

People act like she disrespected Whitney. This is the truth, and we all sat last week and saw her leaving the club, to the pics from this week of her “hard partying.” At some point, you need to have some chill and say enough is enough. She didn’t have cancer or get in an accident, Whitney was playing with her own life for years. 48 and menopause is a lil to old to try to be a rolling stone (albeit old at any age); and, I’m a huge Whitney fan. But I stop sympathisizing with her after the two-part Oprah special where she was clearly high!

    • Bianca

It’s sad that people have to TRY and bring Whitney down after she passed away. Whitney is a legend, and she couldn’t care less about some fucking bloggers opinion. You’re not helping anything. In fact, you’re part of the problem. Keep being negative and things are going to come back to you 100 fold. Don’t disrespect the dead. You get on Whitney about her drug use, but how have you tried to help her? How about a positive, loving article? No, you just bash her voice. Bash her for having fun at a PARTY. You’re worthless.

Also, Celine did not slam Whitney. You’re such a sad person, and it shows with every venomous post you put on this site. You despised Whitney, you despise Rihanna. If you’re this great music enthusiast, why not become an A&R?

I’m so done with this site, though. I hope That Grape Juice continues to ‘steal’ every post.

    • DRB

Listening/watching it, the only thing off was Robin trying to move it on and Celine going on and on and on…. but you know what, she’s right. It might not have been the appropriate time or place, but she spoke the honest truth and it wasn’t just about Whitney.
This title and the one on TGJ is misleading. Still cut from the same cloth I see.

TRENT , I KNOW U A LAMB AND THE LAMBILY SUPPORT U BUT WHAT KINDA OF MISLEADING, ATTENTION GRABBING, ATTENTION SEEKING, CONTROVERSIONAL TITLE IS THIS???

    • Bee

I wouldn’t call this “slamming”. Celine was being real and honest, and stating the sad truth. People in the entertainment industry cannot keep ignoring the fact that artists are destroying themselves due to the industry itself, fame and showbiz. After someone like this dies, the focus eventually drifts away from this issue and the same things happen to another talented artist. It needs to be addressed much more.
Now is a time to mourn a terrible loss, celebrate Whitney’s life and accomplishments but also to recognize how not staying grounded and not having full control over yourself in this cruel business (or even in “ordinary” life) can lead to one’s destruction and demise. It needed to be addressed by someone. Trent said it and now Celine. I wish more people could’ve said this while she was here. Rather than saying “she’ll be okay” or ignoring what was really going on all together and focusing on what Whitney’s voice once was, people should have focused more on the problems she had, and where she was in her life and career then and there.
I think Celine cared enough about the whole issue to say this. It’s always a sensitive topic though and everyone reacts differently to the death of someone they know. Celine seemed sad and frustrated that this had to happen. I’m sure Whitney is in heaven saying “I at least want people to learn from this”. How many times will this have happen?
It’s so sad. I still cannot believe that Whitney Houston is dead :( (sounds weird to type/ say it)

    • Meme

Misleading title. Celine never Slammed her. She adored Whitney. When she gets passionate about things she finds it difficult to articulate in English, look at her Hurricane Katerina interview for another example.

    • twitter.com\_feeniix_

I don’t know why people are mad at what Celine said. Did she lie? No! I’m so tired of people want to be so sweet and “thoughtful” when these celebs die. Yes Whitney was a legend but let’s no be dumb. If she didn’t die of drowning and she had a history of drug abuse, then more than likely that’s how she passed. I wish the media would be more blunt about the situation instead of sugar coating it. These other musicians know what goes on. They could save lives if they’d call it what it is.

    • Bee

I think, however, it would’ve been better if Celine maybe said something like this a little later on, after the toxicology reports are in and the actual cause of death his confirmed. But I get that she is just expressing her immediate emotions and reactions. As I said, everyone reacts differently to an event like this and she was not being disrespectful.

    • Hugo

Has Celine finally came out of her chamber, shes been irrelevant for more then 10 years, i completely forgot about her.

It’s sad that her “well wishers” are finally coming out the wood works, to give there own point of view to the Great Whitney’s death. Some question’s I would like the ask them is: Why didn’t you help or reach her out? If y’all loved her so much why not show your love before her passing?

Whilst I type this i’m listening to Whitney’s records, and we have lost someone that can never be duplicated. Like everyone says “her voice was the national treasure”. I loved Whitney and whenever the media wrote her off I would play her music. Now her music speaks for itself, I don’t need to comment.

Now Trent, this article is misleading, Whitney was a phenomenal woman. Her legacy is going to be remembered forever.

I’m in tears, We will always love you Whitney Houston. May you finally rest in peace, you have given us so many great memories, and music that we can play at all occassions.

    • MzGoodBadGirl

I lost respect for celine because as others mentioned, she could’ve reached out to Whitney, but she didn’t so all of your words are null and void in my opinion. It’s funny how when a person die, everybody are always saying, could’ve should’ve would’ve. Well you didn’t so what type of person does that make you? RIP Whitney, gone too soon and their will never be another singing voice like yours.

    • Kevon

The thing is about Celine, is that she is very lucky that 1) she married into a relationship with an older man that is obviously not a difficult or controlling one, and the media and press didn’t care enough about her for there to be a backlash.

Part of the reason Whitney, or most celebrities truly go off the rails is because the media that once adored them, turns on them. Everything they once knew gets flipped upside down, and they can’t handle it. When the whole world is hounding you, trying to follow your every move to ridicule you, it will only make your need for escapism worse.

Celine’s never been that much of an interesting persona in the media for that to happen to her. If it had, maybe she wouldn’t be so quick to judge.

    • theman

She certainly could’ve worded it better.

    • Naudisweet(Xtina Stan)

“Let, he who is without sin throw the first stone”. The woman is dead, will pointing out her short comings make you all feel better about your lives. RIP Whitney, only God can judge you. All you stone throwers can have a seat.

    • pokkie

Oh holy mother Marie mother of Jesus yiceline , holier than thou. I had long forgot about. Are u trying to make a come back by being gudgemental about Whitney. I don’t care what ended the divas life, all I know is she is the best still and has left us with a gift which is her music and her flawless voice. That is how she will be remembered. Even after her voice was ruined by drugs, she could still sing better than you.

    • gurl_stop

she was more talkin about “responsiblity” as a artists and were condemning her enablers. She was out of place and Robin Roberts was gettin a little piss. Stop throwing out shocking HEADLINES…thats not even what the interview is about. SMH as always

    • latifa

you are killing me with that gif. ribbit

    • Bee

Why are people saying “Celine should’ve done something then if she really cared”, etc.
      1) How do you know Celine didn’t try to reach out at some point.
      2) It is understandable if she didn’t want to get involved with the whole situation with the drugs, Bobby, etc.
      3) Whitney would’ve needed someone close to her to help her. A friend that knows her truly. I don’t think Celine knew Whitney personally.
      4) There’s only so much a person can do in a situation like this especially if you’re not family, a relative, or a close friend. With all those leeches surrounding Whitney forming a toxic bubble, it would be very hard to get to her, let alone get through to her.
      5) Celine had her own family to take care of! She has kids.

    • Bee

      Naudisweet(Xtina Stan) says:
“The woman is dead, will pointing out her short comings make you all feel better about your lives. RIP Whitney, only God can judge you. All you stone throwers can have a seat.”

      pokkie says:
Are u trying to make a come back by being gudgemental about Whitney. ughh see. Missing the point here.

    • Kayla

Wow, its not about the truth. If she had felt so strongly about this, she should have said it to Whitney when she was ALIVE.

Whitney started her career at a young age and was manipulated by people and brought down by her weaknesses. If Celine survived, good for her but she wasn’t living in Whitney’s pocket so she isn’t privy to the details of her life and person that put her in that situation.

I do believe that Celine was more sincere and heartbroken and did not intend to come across as hurtful but she has NO RIGHT to speculate on Whitney’s motherhood, her family or any other of her personal business. She made Whitney’s death about her and even if most of us do make death about ourselves, we atleast keep it to ourselves. People act like honesty gives you license to do anything and makes you the most noble being on earth but sometimes there is more NOBILITY IN SILENCE, If only out of RESPECT for the daughter. Imagine hearing your mothers peers talk about her that way, that she basically chose drugs over you. I think her daughter has enough problems.

Taking drugs is a choice but remaining a drug addict is NOT A CHOICE. I’m pretty sure its no fun. I’m heartbroken at the thought of her daughter waking up to her mothers death.

    • Fernando

Have you all heard the interview before commenting?? And I don’t get this kind of articles trying to make everything controversial… Celine didn’t say anything bad, she wasn’t disrespectful. And she certainly wasn’t talking about the causes of Whitney’s death… She is a fan as many of us are, she said she was inspired by Whitney and that she loves her. She must be trying to accept this, and must be angry for everything that happened with Whitney, as many of her fans and relatives must be. She wasn’t judging anyone, and wasn’t trying to get attention to her since she doesn’t need it, so please don’t say anything just because you have the right to do so.

RIP Whitney… Hope you now have the peace you needed.

    • VeeCee

If you never had anything to say while I was alive, please keep shut after I’m dead and gone. Celine has every right to say whatever she feels. BUT….I find the timing very weird on her part.

Either way, it’s an unfortunate situation. Sometimes I think ppl think drugs are the worst things ppl can do. Sometimes you don’t have control. A lot of times there are more enablers than supporters in your life.

At the end of the day, everyone is just trying to make it. We all deal with our issues in different ways. I pray people don’t turn to substance abuse, but I can understand how. We should pray and grab hold of them instead of wait until they pass to say what they feel or write posts on blogs highlighting ppl’s misfortunes. I will never understand that.

    • Fernando

Kayla: She didn’t say “Whitney chose drugs over her daughter”… She said she can’t understand what’s so powerful in drugs that makes you forget about your daughter’s love, your friends and fans, etc. All she did was to say that she hates drugs and that they have taken Whitney off her daughter when her addiction was stronger (when entering rehab), taken her voice off, and also that drugs have taken many LEGENDS off in the past and that we all need to do something about this. BTW, you don’t really know if she has tried to reach out to Whitney in those years, but even if she haven’t that doesn’t mean she didn’t care enough…

    • AHEM!

How do you guys know that Celine didn’t ‘reach out’ to Whitney? Everybody tried but she was too consumed by her addiction. So consumed she couldn’t beat it. Celine spoke the truth. Yes, there is something to be said about a time and place and about speaking about what you don’t know about – but the thing is, she is in the industry so she DOES know. Most ‘fans’ were the ones laughing at her sad demise and making GIFs about wanting to ‘see the receipts’. I KNOW Trent used one.

Maybe we are all guilty in some way, the same with other stars who fell. BUT we must, too, remember that these people are adults. You can tell someone to stop all you want but if they can’t stop then they won’t stop.

Someone needed to say it. Yeah maybe she should have said it later BUT it needed to be said. It was also said when she was alive. If you watch interviews, Whitney reached a point of disregard for her talent, beauty, responsibility and role…

We should not hate on Celine. We should not blame anyone (although I am blaming Bobby Brown). We need to find a way to not let this keep happening.

These people are the sacrifices at the altar of the fame machine. It may even be harder for them to quit the habit than ‘ordinary’ people because they have money in abundance and not always the sense that should go with it.

Now, Whitney has left a child who is suffering. Whitney was a mother, a daughter, a niece, a friend, and much more – we need to let the people who loved her most have some peace very soon and mourn her in private.

I hope that people will use this as yet another tragic lesson. But let’s try and remember the fact we have lost an irreplaceable talent.

      R.I.P Ms Houston.

And one more thing – TRENT the title of this article is PURE SHIT STIRRING right thuuuuuur. I love you BUT sometimes I think I am reading TGJ.

      THAT IS ALL.

I can’t believe she is gone so soon.First Michael Jackson and now Whitney. I was just watching the movie Preacher’s Wife minutes before I found out about her death. She was one of my favorite singer. Every time she hit a certain note in her songs I would get chills. She had an amazing powerhouse voice. I remember she was my one of my first girl crushes. My heart goes out to her loved ones. Especially her daughter. I know what she is going through. I lost my mother 2yrs ago. She was also a big fan of hers. I hope Bobbi Kristina finds peace. Your mother is still alive through her music, movies and most importantly through you. RIP Ms. Houston. I will be blasting your music all week.

I feel Celine was speaking with passion, sadness and angrier not at Whitney so much but with disbelief that someone did not intervene. I agree with some that maybe Celine could have spoke about at a later time but media caught her at her most vulnerable time. I guarantee if she could she may have said things in a different way or time. But the truth is medication or drugs are readily available to celebrities and this will continue until someone put a stop to it. It is so sad that a beautiful woman with a Superior voice had to suffer like this once again at the hands of medications or drugs. ;(

Its funny that when a person speaks the truth they get attacked. Celine is the ony celebrity that isnt a pussy and actually practices what she preaches. She is no hypocrite. And she didnt even slam Whitney, she said that her decisions werent the best (which they werent), and that drugs took over her life. How many more extremely talented people have to die from drugs so that everybody can open their fucking eyes!? There is a problem in the entertainment business and nobody says shit. Bravo, Celine!
