Kelly Rowland Belts Whitney Houston’s ‘Greatest Love Of All’

Written by Trent | Filed under Kelly Rowland,Whitney Houston

As reported earlier today, Kelly Rowland attended the Keep Memory Alive foundation’s Power of Love Gala last evening to celebrate Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday. During the annual event, the singer saluted one of her fallen idols, Whitney Houston, by covering the diva’s version of ‘The Greatest Love of All’ alongside Stevie Wonder.

However, this wasn’t the first occasion where Rowland has paid homage to an artist who influenced her. She also performed for Mariah Carey at the 2012 BET Honors and delivered an exciting rendition of ‘Fantasy’ with rapper Raekwon.

Watch Rowland’s impressive performance of ‘Greatest’ below:

“The lizard” appreciates when someone SINGS and explores their full potential. Kelly has been doing that recently (she must be inspired by Mariah – given the opportunity to sing for her at the BET Honours, and of course Whitney).

I didn’t think Kelly could sing a Whitney Houston song but
she fouled me. She not only sing that song, she sang!!!

She may have accepted Mariah’s request to sing for her at the BET Honors . But like she’s been saying for the last 15 years , Whitney was her favorite artist and ultimate influence , like she’s been to most of the succesful singers of today .

…But don’t worry , i’m sure Rihanna will be delighted to re-visit her vibrant & heartfelt rendition of Hero .

Whitney wasn’t an artist, she was just a singer

Idk nor do igaf wats gotten into Ms. Kelendria Trene lately but she needs to hold on to it. Bcuz these performances are becoming consistsntly good. It took a while but hey better late than never. Ask Octavia Spencer.

You better get your vocal control up Kelly. Yes girl. Now get your range up and a vocal coach, writer and producer that will challenge you in the booth.

She still needs a lot of work but she is definitely good in the right direction at a great pass. She needs to stay away from recording any new material until this voice is a gorgeous as she is though.

This was a great rendition, Kelly’s voice has improved vastly over the new year. I believe Kelly has the ability to do even better. I often wondered why her voice never seem to get better as Beyonce’s did over their DC career but I guess when u don’t sing lead you aren’t a vocal priority to the label.

And also her voice has really gotten a lot stronger her belts and have been very powerful with out any strain what so ever. Hope she continues to show her full potential on the upcoming album.
