Did you know that Ashanti was the first female artist to simultaneously place 3 singles in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100?
During the weeks of March 30th and April 6th in 2002, Ashanti notched 3 songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100 – ‘Foolish’, ‘What’s Luv? (with Fat Joe)’ and ‘Always on Time (with Ja Rule)’. In fact, when the former 2 held #1 and #2 spots on the chart, respectively, from April 20th to May 18th in 2002, Ashanti became the first female artist to control both the positions simultaneously.
Adele made history as the first female lead artist to land 3 singles in the top 10 of the Hot 100 during the same week as Ashanti was only credited as featured act on ‘What’s Luv?’ and ‘Always on Time’. Yet, Ashanti did have writing credits on a fourth tune in the top 10 of the chart while ‘Foolish’, ‘What’s Luv’ and ‘Always on Time’ were all at the upper region – Jennifer Lopez’ ‘Ain’t It Funny’.
Watch the video for Ashanti’s ‘Foolish’ below:
#POW Not only writing credit for “Ain’t It Funny”, but she also sang the hook and can be seen in the video.
Awe poor Ashanti she was probably the biggest causality of Beyonceitis.
Even though she’s not the hot thing now, she’s always gonna be eating off of those royalties.
Interesting. I didn’t know that Ashanti had accomplished that much.
Causality of who now?
