Melody Thornton has found her own space in the spotlight now that Nicole Scherzinger is not around to push her off the stage. The young singer performed the US national anthem, ‘The Star Spangled Banner’, at the Los Angeles Marathon this weekend and displayed the lung power hidden during her stint as a Pussycat Doll.
Last week, Thornton ‘P.O.Y.B.L. (Piss On Your Black List)’ mixtape. The 10-track set included songs such as ‘Crazy Mixed Girl’, ‘Smoking Gun’ and the single ‘Lipstick&Guilt’.
Watch Thornton perform at the LA Marathon below:
This was actually a good showing by Thornton. Whenever it seemed as though she was about to go overboard with her runs, she held back and focused on the structure of the song. Now, if only Thornton would do this with her own songs she would be far more successful.

Amazing
She did a good job.
she did well!! you can tell shes had training! control was on point! she better stop taking poiners from Christina Agularia
Coming for wigs! She is on her way to becoming one of my faves….And i feel you Trent, she needs to use her voice like a gift and not a weapon, like she did for this anthem…If i was her team i would ban her from ever listening to a Christina song ever again. If she keeps a good vocal coach and focus on tuning her voice she could become a big heavy weight in this industry. Her taste for music and song writing is really good, she just can’t let that voice get away from her.
Hmmm, I have to disagree with you on this one. Her transitions were very weak, the way she accessed some of her upper notes in the beginning was poor. She started to get it together towards the end. Hmmmmm…I will give it another listen but I was not impressed with her one bit.
It was better than Fergie, Keri, Letoya, Mary etc… renditions .
after seeing her past performances…i must say that this is my favorite by far. was her transitions perfect…no….but you can see that she is listening to her fans…restraining from overwhelming a song with runs. i hope she continues this! and hopefully Christina culd take a pointer r two….
