Did you know that The Supremes was the first girl group inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?
The Supremes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. Notably, however, it was only the original lineup of the band – Diana Ross, Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson – that was given the honor.
Before the departure of Ross from The Supremes, the group scored 12 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, including their many incarnations, the band was ranked as the most successful girl group on the Hot 100 during the 1958-2008 period.
