Did you know that ‘N Sync’s ‘No String Attached’ set the record for the biggest first week sales of the SoundScan era (1991-present)?
‘No Strings Attached’ entered the Billboard 200 at #1 in 2000 with sales exceeding 2.42 million copies in its opening week. The LP set the bar as the first release of the SoundScan era to sell over 2 million copies in a single week; a feat that has yet to be matched.
Shockingly, ‘N Sync’s followup to ‘No Strings Attached’, ‘Celebrity’, clocked the second highest first week sales of the SoundScan era. That album sold over 1.88 million copies during its first 7 days in stores in 2001. ‘No Strings Attached’ and ‘Celebrity’ have been certified 11x platinum and 5x platinum in the US, respectively.
