Did you know that Eminem is the only solo artist in US history to have multiple albums sell over 1 million copies in their respective opening weeks?
‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ sold 1.76 million copies when it entered the Billboard 200 at #1 in the week of June 10th 2000 and made Eminem the first rapper to sell over 1 million units in an opening frame. However, he achieved the feat again during the week of June 15th 2002 when ‘The Eminem Show’ sold 1.32 million copies, thus earning him the title of being the only solo artist in US history to score multiple debut million-sellers.
To date, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ has sold 10.59 million copies in the US whereas ‘The Eminem Show’ sold 10.06 million. They are the only Hip-Hop albums of the SoundScan era (1991-present) to sell over 10 million copies and are also ranked at #13 and #18, respectively, among all records released during that period.
