It wouldn’t be right for Lil Kim to label her upcoming tour ‘Return of the Queen’ if she didn’t truly return to form. As such, the rapper has dropped a new song called ‘Countin’ Money’ via the I.R.S. South ‘Tax Season’ mixtape that showcases the lyrical fire that once made her a star.
The first of the ‘Return of the Queen’ shows will be hosted at Emo’s in Austin, Texas on May 11th. Kim will release her new album later this year and it will include the promotional single, ‘Keys to the City (Ft. Young Jeezy)’.
Listen to Kim’s ‘Countin’ Money’ below:
It’s clear that Kim’s desire to make music and actually rap serious bars has returned to its pre-2005 level. In addition to ‘Keys to the City’, ‘Countin’ Money’ demonstrates that she is once again focused on regaining her position as a leading female rapper. Yet, there is something that needs to do if she really wants to distinguish herself from her peers.
As someone who encountered numerous legal and financial troubles during the last few years, Kim has a bigger story to tell that doesn’t only involve nice cars and money. Indeed, by addressing her turmoils through her music, Kim will connect with people on a deeper level and prove that she is not another “stupid hoe”.
