When Kelly Rowland joined forces with Rico Love, she suddenly transformed into a sex peddler and the same change is happening to Teairra Mari. The singer called WGCI Radio in Chicago yesterday to promote her new single, ‘U Did Dat (Ft. 2 Chainz)’, and revealed the raunchy title of her upcoming album.
Mari has named her new album ‘Sex on the Radio’. Set to hit stores later this year, the record is preceded by the ‘U Did Dat’, which has yet to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, despite productions by Love and D-Town. Listen to Mari talk about her new album on WGCI below:
Honestly, Mari could name her album ‘Yu-Gi’Oh!’ but the most important task it to actually get it in stores and yield a hit single. Throughout her entire career, only one of her songs has charted on the Hot 100 – ‘Make Her Feel Good’ – and that was in 2005 so Mari needs to make a serious impact on the listing if she expects ‘Sex on the Radio’ to crack the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
Of course, when I say “hit single” I am referring crossover success and not an Urban airplay winner similar to Rowland’s ‘Motivation (Ft. Lil Wayne)’. Really, how much did ‘Here I Am’ sell?
