Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ is set to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 but ahead its arrival on the US chart, the LP has earned her victory in the UK. Unsurprisingly, she has become the first female rapper have score a #1 entry on the UK Albums Chart, regardless of the fact that the album is primarily Dance/Pop.
With a relatively broad 15K lead on her competition, Minaj has nabbed the top slot on the UK Albums Chart with ‘Roman Reloaded’. The LP has outperformed her original ‘Pink Friday’ album, which peaked at #16 on the listing and was only certified platinum for shipments exceeding 300K units in that territory last week – 16 months after its November 2010 release.
Earlier this week, Minaj released a new video to support ‘Roman Reloaded’ – ‘Beez in the Trap (Ft. 2 Chainz)’. Interestingly, she has yet to put forward the supporting visual for her current UK single ‘Starships’, which was filmed in March.
‘Starships’, previously broke records when it climbed to #2 on the Official UK Singles Chart and became the highest-charting song by a solo female rapper without the assistance of a guest act. Still, Lil Kim holds the title of being the only female rapper to top the lineup, courtesy of ‘Lady Marmalade (with Christina Aguilera, Pink & Mya)’.
