Chris Brown was added to the 2012 Billboard Music Awards lineup during the weekend and now another major Pop star has joined action. Katy Perry will will hit the stage at the show, which airs live on May 20th, and she will use the opportunity to debut her new single.
Perry will perform ‘Wide Awake’ from her ‘Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection’ album at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. The single follows ‘Part of Me’, which was Perry’s seventh chart-topping single on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2011, Perry became the second artist in history to score five #1 songs on the Hot 100 from a single album when the first five release from her ‘Teenage Dream’ LP topped the chart. In fact, she matched the accomplishments of Michael Jackson with his ‘Bad’ album in 1988.
Other acts who will perform at the Billboard Music Awards include Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, LMFAO, Cee Lo Green, Kelly Clarkson, Usher, The Wanted, Linkin Park and Nelly Furtado. The show will air live at 8pm ET on May 20th via ABC.
