Naked girls, jewelry and fancy cars – these are the facets of music viisuals crafted by men to overcompensate for perceived shortcomings in their masculinities. Omarion provides with an ideal example of that fact with his new video for ‘Let’s Talk’.
Co-starring Rick Ross, ‘Let’s Talk’ features Omarion doing his best to make us believe that he is truly a “boss”. Unfortunately, his antics amount to nothing more than a cry for help. Watch the clip below and see for yourself:
Dear Omarion,
You are not this person. You are blessed with the ability to sing and dance so why are you wasting your talents by pretending to be yet another hypermasculine stereotype? Are you so eager to be accepted that you will chase short run success instead of longevity by creating real art?
Please do better than this Omarion. Your idol, Michael Jackson, was great because he was himself; he embraced glitter instead of a squad of false symbols of manhood. Besides, no matter how hard you try, we don’t believe you.
Sincerely,
Somebody who won’t buy your next album,
Trini Trent
