Did you know that Lena Horne was honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989?
Horne earned the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989 for her contributions to Jazz and Pop music. Before passing at the age of 92 years in 2010, Horne nabbed three additional competitive Grammy Awards as well as a Tony Award for her work on Broadway in her one-woman show ‘Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music’.
Horne influenced several successful women in the fields of music and film, including Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick and Vanessa L. Williams. Watch her perform the title track in the classic film ‘Stormy Weather’ below:
